From “The Fate of Ophelia” to “Everything Has Changed,” Taylor Swift’s music has come a long way. The talented artist has been dominating the charts for over a decade now, but what’s even more impressive is her ability to reinvent her own songs. With her recent re-recordings of her first six albums, we couldn’t help but take a trip down memory lane and revisit some of our favorite remixes of Swift’s tracks.
“The Fate of Ophelia” was originally released as part of Swift’s debut album, “Taylor Swift” in 2006. This heart-wrenching ballad tells the story of Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” and her tragic fate. But in 2016, DJ and producer Tyler Ward gave the song a new twist with his remix, adding a catchy beat and electronic elements to the acoustic track. The result? A beautiful and emotional interpretation of the song that perfectly captures the pain and sadness of Ophelia’s story.
Fast forward to 2012, when Swift released her fourth studio album, “Red.” The album’s lead single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” became an instant hit and received numerous covers and remixes. One of our favorites is the remix by DJ and producer duo, The Chainsmokers. They turned the upbeat pop song into a dancefloor anthem with their signature electronic beats and drops. It’s a refreshing take on the song that will make you want to hit the dancefloor and sing your heart out.
Another track from “Red” that received a stellar remix is “I Knew You Were Trouble.” The song was already a massive success, but when Swift performed it at the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, she added a dubstep breakdown that had everyone talking. It didn’t take long for DJ and producer, Hygrade, to create a full remix of the song, incorporating the dubstep elements and making it a club banger. The remix still retains the emotional depth of the original, but with a new energy that will get you moving.
In 2014, Swift released “1989,” her first official pop album. The lead single, “Shake It Off,” was an instant hit and received a number of remixes. But our favorite has to be the remix by DJ Kue. He took the catchy pop song and turned it into a funky, disco track with a killer bassline. It’s a feel-good remix that will have you dancing and singing along in no time.
“Bad Blood” was another hit from “1989” that received a lot of attention, especially for its star-studded music video. But it was the remix by DJ and producer, Kaskade, that caught our attention. He gave the song a new edge with his deep house remix, making it perfect for a night out on the town. The remix perfectly complements the fierce and powerful energy of the original, but with a new sound that keeps it fresh.
After her massive success with “1989,” Swift took a break and returned in 2017 with her sixth studio album, “Reputation.” The lead single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” was a departure from her usual sound and received mixed reviews. But that didn’t stop DJ and producer, R3hab, from creating a killer remix of the song. He added his signature tropical house beats and turned the dark and moody track into a danceable, summer anthem.
Finally, in 2019, Swift released her seventh studio album, “Lover.” The title track received a lot of love for its romantic and dreamy vibes, but it was the remix by producer, Alec Benjamin, that captured our hearts. He added a stripped-down acoustic feel to the song, highlighting the vulnerability and sincerity of the lyrics. It’s a beautiful and intimate remix that showcases Swift’s songwriting talent.
And most recently, Swift surprised us all with the release of her re-recorded album, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version).” Among the 26 tracks, “You Belong With Me” stands out as a fan-favorite. But it was the remix by indie-pop band Echosmith that caught our attention. They put their own spin on the song, giving it a dreamy and nostalgic feel that perfectly captures the longing and yearning of the lyrics.
