I had the opportunity to sit down with the directing duo, seven to five, who were responsible for bringing SEVENTEEN’s vision to life. Kylie Kang and Jihoon Jeon, the creative minds behind the group’s BBMAs performance, shared their insights on the process and challenges they faced in creating a performance that felt as live as possible.
“Hi, we’re the directing duo, seven to five, and my name is Kylie and his name is Jihoon Jeon,” Kylie introduced herself and Jihoon with a smile. “Because we had a limited amount of time to develop a performance that felt as live as possible, we thought a lot about how to make it unique and memorable.”
Jihoon added, “We wanted to create a performance that not only showcased SEVENTEEN’s incredible talent but also left a lasting impression on the audience. We knew we had to think outside the box and push the boundaries to make it happen.”
The process of creating the performance began months before the actual event. Kylie and Jihoon worked closely with SEVENTEEN to understand their vision and incorporate their ideas into the performance. “SEVENTEEN is a group that is heavily involved in their creative process, so it was important for us to collaborate with them and bring their ideas to life,” Kylie explained.
Jihoon continued, “We wanted to create a performance that was not only visually stunning but also told a story. We wanted to take the audience on a journey through SEVENTEEN’s music and showcase their versatility as artists.”
One of the biggest challenges the directing duo faced was the limited time they had to prepare for the performance. With only a few weeks before the BBMAs, they had to work tirelessly to perfect every aspect of the performance. “It was a race against time, but we were determined to deliver a performance that exceeded expectations,” Kylie shared.
Jihoon added, “We had to make sure every detail was perfect, from the choreography to the stage design and special effects. It was a lot of pressure, but we were confident in SEVENTEEN’s abilities and knew they would deliver an amazing performance.”

Kylie and Jihoon, along with SEVENTEEN, rehearsed tirelessly to ensure everything was flawless. “The energy and passion that SEVENTEEN brought to every rehearsal was incredible.
