Aquaculturists in the Coclé province are aided by the Panama Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP) and Cobre Panama in their endeavors

In the La Pintada district of Coclé, more than 15 families have successfully completed the first phase of their tilapia harvest with the support of the Sustainable Agricultural Community Committee of Cascajal. This collaborative initiative, carried out in conjunction with the Panama Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP) and Cobre Panama, is dedicated to tilapia production, serving both personal consumption and commercial purposes.

During this initial partial harvest, these families were able to yield approximately 300 pounds of tilapia, with an average weight of 1.5 pounds per fish. Beyond providing a valuable source of high-quality protein for these households, the tilapia harvest has created opportunities for them to generate additional income.

Furthermore, these families have access to a grinding machine that enables them to transform the fish into nuggets and hamburgers, adding value to their products. COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM
